DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS: 2 APRIL 2024.

Applications for the residency period 12 August – 30 September 2024 will be accepted until 2 April 2024 at 23:59h (CEST).

FIDA is the Finnish Cultural Institute in Denmark’s residency programme for visual artists. It is operated in collaboration with Fonden FABRIKKEN for Kunst og Design in Copenhagen. The purpose of the programme is to build networks between professional artists on the contemporary Finnish and Danish art scenes, and to introduce Finnish or Finland-based artists to the Danish art market.

The FIDA residency programme welcomes 1 artist a year for a duration of 2 months. The FIDA guest receives a total grant of 25.000 DKK (approx. 3.360 EUR) to cover living expenses etc., paid travel up to 2.500 DKK (approx. 335 EUR, we encourage sustainable travel and are happy to advise), shared accommodation in Copenhagen, and a private studio at FABRIKKEN. The Finnish Cultural Institute in Denmark and FABRIKKEN oversee the resident’s programme including networking activities and introduces the resident in relevant contexts.

Application procedure and criteria

To be eligible for a FIDA residency, the applicant must be a Finnish or Finland-based professional artist. The programme does not accept Danish nationals or residents of Denmark. The programme welcomes applications from emerging to mid-career artists, who can document exhibition experience in relevant art contexts and collaborations with curators.

Applicants are asked to submit a plan for the residency, including a motivated list of agents on the Danish art scene that are of interest to them. FABRIKKEN and The Finnish Cultural Institute in Denmark will take the artists’ wishes and interests into consideration when planning the residency.

A jury consisting of artists and art professionals assesses the applications.

During the residency, a public presentation of the resident’s practice is organised in collaboration with the programme manager. Online meetings between the programme manager and the artist will be conducted prior to arrival in preparation of the residency.

Application

Only applications that meet the required criteria above and respect the guidelines below will be taken into consideration. Applicants will receive the jury’s decision within four weeks of the application deadline.
