A Prima Vista is a collaborative exhibition between Lokal Gallery and the Finnish Cultural Institute in Denmark. The expression A Prima Vista is borrowed from musical terminology; playing directly from notes at first sight. One could also speak of “amore a prima vista” – a feeling that arises at the sight of a new love, as an artist discovers a new expression or the blossoming of new life in late spring and early summer – that annual miracle. The group exhibition consists largely of worlds and work ensembles that combine the traditions of fine arts, refined craftsmanship and collectible design.
Artists & Makers: Ville Aakula, Paul Flanders, Saija Halko, Antrei Hartikainen, Hemmo Honkonen, Tatu Laakso, Nathalie Lautenbacher, Waltter Mahlberg, Santeri Mortti, Outi Martikainen, Rasmus Palmgren, Riikka Piippo, Carlo Raymann, Renata Schirm, Milla Vaahtera, Sini Villi and Didi NG Wing Yin.
Lokal is a Helsinki-based concept gallery bringing forth local artwork and collectible design. Inspired by a blend of artistic expression and craftsmanship, Lokal embraces sustainability and small-scale production. Fostering a supportive creative community rooted in heritage and a close relationship to nature is at the core of their activity. Lokal’s curated exhibitions can be viewed both at their homelike gallery space in Helsinki, as well as online. During 3daysofdesign, Lokal collaborates with The Finnish Cultural Institute in Denmark to present an exhibition featuring a group of Finnish artists and makers working at the intersection of fine art and functionality.
The exhibition can be seen between 10-12.6 from 10:00 - 17:00. On Wednesday 10.6 from 17:00 - 20:00 everyone is welcome to celebrate the opening of the exhibition in the atmospheric courtyard at Gammel Strand. Attendees can meet the designers, enjoy drinks and music, and experience a taste of Finland with wild-food maestro Sami Tallberg.
The exhibition is supported by: The Finnish Cultural Institute in Denmark, The Finnish Embassy in Denmark, The Finnish-Danish Cultural Foundation and Asko Foundation. With sponshorship from Kakola Brewing Company.
3daysofdesign is Denmark’s largest design festival, established in Copenhagen in 2013. The festival takes place in showrooms, shops, streets, galleries, and various other venues throughout Denmark's capital. Copenhagen hosts a growing community of design enthusiasts who gather at 3daysofdesign to celebrate creativity.
