The 10 years festival is a dance festival, recognizing that an eventful decade, with over 40 dance projects, has gone by since Finnish born but Danish based Taneli Törmä’s company LOCATION X put down roots in Odense in 2011. This will be celebrated through a series of dance activities in the center of Odense in November.
Taneli Törmä - LOCATION X is an award-winning choreographer and performing artist, with international and interdisciplinary experience. As a teacher, performer, fundraiser, idea maker and curator he focuses on developing the performing arts towards a more diverse, intercultural, multi-perspectial and innovative form.
The 10 years festival offers a vide variety of dance happenings, with several dance events spread out over 10 days. You can experience the latest works of LOCATION X and international guest dance artists works from Finland, Norway, Germany and Romania. One of them is the Finnish dance artist Eleni Pierides from Kokkola, who will perform her Unarmed dance performance on the streets of Odense on 17-20.11.2021.
Eleni Pierides work Unarmed stems from the Finnish word “kädetön”, directly translated as “handless” and used as a figurative word to describe angst stemming from a feeling of lack of agency. The work Unarmed departs from an overwhelming sense of hopelessness when it comes to "the way of the world". The solo contemplates on powerlessness and helplessness, while also looking for some sort of healing. It also displays the feeling of longing for the possibility and the ability of making or being an influence. The performance takes place at Gråbrødre Plads in Odense.
