Residency
Sirkku Rosi selected as artist-in-residence for FIDA 2020
FABRIKKEN, 2020
Sirkku Rosi is the visual artist selected for FIDA - residency program for visual artists in collaboration with FABRIKKEN in 2020.
Sirkku Rosi works mainly with aquarelles and performance art with an interest in rituals and poetry raising from every day life and its absurdity. She is interested in femininity and sees the lived body and flesh as a shared experience - calling her own works a kind of diminutive carnival of flesh. Rosi has a Master of Arts from Aalto University, School of Arts, Design and Architecture in Helsinki.
The selection for the FIDA residency was made by FABRIKKEN and an external jury consisting of artists and curators. According to the jury, Rosi clearly masters her mediums well, and her use of body and flesh in her aquarelles and performance creates a unique expression, which is completely her own. The result is “a bodypositive ode to flesh and the lived life”.
FIDA is the Finnish Cultural Institute in Denmark’s residency program for visual artists, operated in collaboration with Fonden FABRIKKEN for Kunst of Design in Copenhagen. The purpose of the program is to build networks between professional artists on the contemporary Finnish and Danish art scenes, and to introduce Finnish or Finland-based artists to the Danish art market. In addition to an atelier at FABRIKKEN, a program will be built around networking activities locally in Copenhagen as well as across the country. The residency period is planned to be in August-September, 2020.
